Week 11 | w/c March 15th 2021

Weekly Overview

Minimal rainfall and similar temperatures, growth potential and base nitrogen requirements. High Turf Stress is expected for a couple regions and a PGR is recommended to be applied, but which one?

Average Maximum & Minimum Temperatures

Next 10 days

Last 10 days

Weather

The next 10 days can expect similar conditions compared to the last 10 days, with more northern regions expecting similar temperatures with the southern regions. The average maximum temperatures are expected to be between 8-9 °C with average minimum temperatures expected to be between 2-4 °C.

Growth Potential

Next 10 days

Last 10 days

Weather

Growth potential is expected to be similar to the last 10 days. As we move into the growing season where temperatures are expected to rise, it’s important to ensure your turf has the required macro and micro nutrients for the steady growth.

Now is a good time to apply a granular fertiliser such as Ferro Top®6-0-12(+6MgO+8Fe). The perfect combination of nitrogen sources take full advantage of the cooler weather and Ferro Top® provides the perfect amount of K plus Fe, Mg and S which are all required to promote strong healthy turf, photosynthesis and discourage moss.

Base Nitrogen

Next 10 days

Last 10 days

Weather

All regions are now displaying 1 kg/N/ha Base nitrogen requirement (numbers inside the circles). This is an encouraging sign that could highlight more N will be required as the weeks go on to match the requirements of turf growth.

It's always important to match the turf requirements for nitrogen as applying too little or too much can both have detrimental effects on turf health & performance and also increase disease occurrence, especially during this time of year.

Depending on your grass species and soil type, base nitrogen requirements may be more or less than the weather estimated figures.

Application Advice

Using PrecisionPro will help you calibrate your spreader and fertiliser correctly and also ensure correct walking speed is achieved. When applying any type of granular product it's important to keep a consistent spread width, therefore reducing missed or overlapped areas for a perfectly treated surface.

Rainfall

Next 10 days

Last 10 days

Weather

A few showers here and there but on the whole very little rainfall can be expected for the UK.

Turf Stress

Next 10 days

Last 10 days

Weather

The next 10 days are showing High Turf Stress for regions in Scotland highlighted with Red Circles, a few regions further south expecting Low Turf Stress while all other regions can expect Medium Turf Stress.

For extra leaf protection, TurfRx Si which also contains calcium, will help turf become less susceptible to invasive fungal diseases and insects while also standing up the plant for a cleaner cut.

The use of other products to help protect the plant such as Green Lawnger TR and Dew Dispersants will help reduce leaf moisture, help prevent disease and improve surface playability. The pigment technology in Green Lawnger TR will also help increase the turf canopy temperature, protect the crown from frost damage and accelerate thawing of snow and ice.

Delivering the correct macro and micronutrients during specific turf conditions is key to keeping your turf healthy and resilient to disease pressures and stress.

Weather

The next 10 days show that Attraxor® applications can be expected to start as highlighted by the gold circle tick icons. Following further research and trials, Attraxor® is safe to apply early in the season giving all turf managers an NEW exciting advantage when managing POA seedhead production and regulating plant growth. It's important to time applications of Attraxor® inline with the "boot" stage of the poa annua plant, further preventing poa pioneering.

Weather

Minimal / No poa seed head emergence is still expected for all the UK.

Seed Germination Days

Agrovista amenity overseeding weather data helps you apply the right seed at the right time, maximising germination and ensuring optimum establishment. Using our amenity weather data, we can highlight the amount of base germination and optimum germination days that are occurring over the next 10 days.

Bent

Next 10 days

Last 10 days

Weather

Expect mainly No Germination days over the next 10 days for the UK, with a few Base Germination days starting to pop up.

Remember it's important to ensure correct seed to soil contact for each type of seed.

Fescue

Next 10 days

Last 10 Days

Weather

Base Germination days are starting to dominate the next 10 days with less No Germination days occurring more towards the south.

Always ensure correct seedbed preparation for optimum soil to seed contact.

Rye

Last 10 days

Weather

Rye can expect mainly Base Germination days to occur over the next few days with a few Optimum Germination days popping up. Overseeding with Rye may see some results as we go into spring.

Always ensure correct seedbed preparation for optimum soil to seed contact.
