Week 18 | w/c May 3rd 2021

Weekly Overview

More rain expected over the next 10 days with increased Growth Potential and Base Nitrogen requirements. High Turf Stress is expected for some regions with Poa seed head emergence also expected.

Average Maximum & Minimum Temperatures

Next 10 days

Last 10 days

Weather

Over the next 10 days, all regions except East and West Scotland can expect increased maximum and minimum temperatures. The average maximum temperatures are expected to be between 6-14 °C with average minimum temperatures expected to be between 2-8 °C.

Growth Potential

Next 10 days

Last 10 days

Weather

Further, increases in growth potential are expected as the majority of the UK are now in the Medium Growth Potential zone. East and West Scotland can expect lower growth potential and therefore continue in the Low Growth Potential zone.

As the UK navigates into the growing season, different requirements of nitrogen sources may be required to support optimum growth stages of the plant. Evolution Naturelle micro spring is a perfect option for fine turf while Floranid®Twin NK is ideal for turf mown above 10 mm.

Base Nitrogen

Next 10 days

Last 10 days

Weather

0-5 kg/N/ha Base nitrogen requirement (numbers inside the circles) is expected for regions in the UK over the next 10 days.

It's always important to match the turf requirements for nitrogen as applying too little or too much can both have detrimental effects on turf health & performance and also increase disease occurrence, especially during this time of year.

Depending on your grass species and soil type, base nitrogen requirements may be more or less than the weather estimated figures.

Application Advice

Using PrecisionPro will help you calibrate your spreader and fertiliser correctly and also ensure correct walking speed is achieved. When applying any type of granular product it's important to keep a consistent spread width, therefore reducing missed or overlapped areas for a perfectly treated surface.

Rainfall

Next 10 days

Last 10 days

Weather

Rain is once again expected for the next 10 days with the most rainfall expected in the North West and the least expected in the South East. Wetting agents should be applied to help manage water consumption and moisture levels in order to maintain healthy turf.

Turf Stress

Next 10 days

Last 10 days

Weather

As growth potential dramatically fluctuates, stress on the plant can occur therefore requiring additional nutritional inputs to support plant defence and turf health. Regions highlighted with red circles can expect High Stress on turf surfaces while regions highlighted with amber and green circles can expect less turf stress.

During times of increased turf stress, applying Kali Gazon reduces leaf damage and increases regeneration. Delivering the correct macro and micronutrients during specific turf conditions is key to keeping your turf healthy and resilient to disease pressures and stress.

The next 10 days show applications of Attraxor® and products containing trinexapac-ethyl can be applied where green and amber tick icons are displayed whereas regions with red tick icons are advised not to apply.

Ensure you follow manufacturer application guidelines for both Attraxor® and products containing trinexapac-ethyl.

Weather

GDD is once again expected to increase for all regions except East and West Scotland over the next 10 days.

POA seed head emergence

Next 10 days

Last 10 days

Weather

The way we display POA Seed head emergence is changing. We now display green, amber and red icons to indicate expected emergence, potential emergence and no emergence respectively.

POA seed heads are expected to emerge over the next 10 days for regions highlighted with green circles. Regions with amber circles could potentially expect poa seed head emergence given the right conditions.

Seed Germination Days

Agrovista amenity overseeding weather data helps you apply the right seed at the right time, maximising germination and ensuring optimum establishment. Using our amenity weather data, we can highlight the amount of base germination and optimum germination days that are occurring over the next 10 days.

Bent

Weather

Expect a mix of Base and No Germination days over the next 10 days for the UK, with a few regions even starting to display some Optimum Germination days too.

Remember it's important to ensure correct seed to soil contact for each type of seed.

Fescue

Next 10 days

Last 10 Days

Weather

Base Germination days continue to dominate the next 10 days with fewer No Germination days and more Optimum Germination days also expected.

Always ensure correct seedbed preparation for optimum soil to seed contact.

Rye

Next 10 days

Last 10 days

Weather

Rye can expect mainly Base Germination days to occur over the next few days with even more Optimum Germination days also expected compared to last week.

Always ensure correct seedbed preparation for optimum soil to seed contact.
